DURHAM, N.C. – Thanks to her excellence on the field and in the classroom, as well as her dedication to her community, Duke standout Imani Dorsey has been selected one of 10 finalists for the 2017 Senior CLASS Award for women’s soccer.

To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence: community, classroom, character and competition. An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School®, the Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities.

A native of Elkridge, Md., Dorsey is a two-time All-ACC selection and a 2016 CoSIDA Academic All-American. The senior star has been Duke’s leader through an impressive 2017 campaign so far, pacing the Blue Devils with nine goals, three assists and 21 points. The three-time TopDrawerSoccer.com Team of the Week honoree has led Duke to a program record 13-straight victories and has propelled the Blue Devils to a 6-0-0 start in ACC play, the best conference start in school history.

Her offensive prowess spearheaded a perfect September for the Blue Devils, as Duke went 8-0-0 and outscored opponents 20-3, with Dorsey contributing six of those goals. Dorsey and the Blue Devils have carried that stretch into October, as Duke has posted two shutouts with the senior contributing a goal and assist. The environmental science and policy major is also a three-time ACC Honor Roll and All-ACC Academic Team member and has been named to the Dean’s List in the Fall and Spring of 2015.

Other finalists include Michaela Abam (West Virginia), Alex Anthony (USC), Alexa Ben (DePaul), Alyssa Heintschel (Ball State), Alexis Kiehl (Dayton), Savannah McCaskill (South Carolina), Becca Rolfe (High Point), Andi Sullivan (Stanford), Martha Thomas (Charlotte).

The finalists were chosen by a selection committee from the list of 30 men’s candidates and 30 women’s candidates announced in September. Nationwide fan voting begins immediately to help select the winner, and fans are encouraged to vote on the Senior CLASS Award website through November 20. Fan votes will be combined with media and Division I head coaches’ votes to determine the winner. The Senior CLASS Award winners will be announced during the 2017 NCAA Men’s and Women’s College Cup® championships later this fall.
