DURHAM, N.C. – With the spring season in full swing, the Duke Blue Devils will take on the NWSL’s North Carolina Courage in a scrimmage Friday, April 6 at the 751 Training Fields.
Friday’s scrimmage is set to begin at 4:30 p.m. ET at 751, which is located at 2501 Cameron Blvd., across from the West Campus Grounds Parking Lot. Parking will be available in the Al Buehler Trail Parking Lot located in between the 751 Training Fields and the Washington Duke Inn. Admission is free to all fans.
The Courage enter the scrimmage after a pair of victories to open the 2018 NWSL season, defeating both reigning league champions Portland Thorns FC and Sky Blue FC to the tune of 1-0. Finishing with the NWSL’s best regular season record, the Courage captured the NWSL Shield for the second time in franchise history and first since relocating from New York to Cary, N.C., in 2016.
Duke will look to carry the momentum from one of the most successful seasons in Duke women’s soccer history into the upcoming 2018 season. Duke tallied a 23-2-1 record in 2017, earning its 23rd NCAA Tournament bid, second No. 1 seed and fourth trip to the College Cup. The Blue Devils also put together a perfect 10-0-0 ledger in conference play, capturing their third ACC regular season championship in school history.The Blue Devils’ 2017 season featured a number of other impressive marks as well, headlined by a program best 19-game winning streak that stretched from Aug. 20 – Nov. 3 as well as setting the school records for shutouts (18), home wins (15), ACC wins (10), ranked victories (9) ACC shutouts (8) and ACC goal differential (+20).
