LOUISVILLE, Ky. – It was a thriller Friday night at Lynn Stadium, as Duke senior Ashton Miller scored a goal in the 103rd minute to lead the fourth-ranked Blue Devils to a 3-2 double overtime road victory against ACC foe Louisville. The win keeps Duke’s program record winning streak intact, moving it to 11-straight triumphs.

The Blue Devils improve to 11-1-0 overall and 4-0-0 in ACC play, marking their best start in league play since the 1997 season. Louisville drops to 7-5-0 and 1-3-0 against conference opponents.

With the win, Duke finishes the month of September a perfect 8-0-0, outscoring opponents 20-3 with six  shutouts.

Ella Stevens opened the scoring in the game as her shot deflected off of a Louisville defender and into the goal for a 1-0 lead in the 24th minute.

Louisville answered just over 10 minutes later, drawing a penalty kick. The Cardinals’ Emina Ekic stepped up to the spot and buried the ball for the equalizer and her seventh goal of the year. From there both sides would go into the half tied at a goal each, however the Cardinals wasted no time taking the lead in the second frame. Katrine Bjerke put Louisville ahead 2-1 with a score in the 47th minute.

Duke continued to knock on the door as Louisville goalkeeper Gabriel Kouzelos made a spectacular save on Stevens to keep the Blue Devils off the board. Then Taylor Racioppi stepped onto the scene.

The junior broke through for the equalizer in the 75th minute, finishing a Kayla McCoy cross for her second goal of the campaign.

Louisville had a chance in the waning minutes, hitting the crossbar, but couldn’t finish as the squads headed into overtime. After a scoreless first extra session, Miller took advantage of her first opportunity of overtime, as a Duke cross into the box deflected off several players and fell to the feet of the senior. Miller slammed home the game winner, netting her third goal of the year and second game winner to seal the match 3-2 in favor of the Blue Devils.
