DURHAM, N.C. – After joining the squad on a national team replacement contract, former Duke women’s soccer standout Imani Dorsey has now signed a full professional contract with Sky Blue FC of the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL), the team announced Friday.

Dorsey made her professional debut last weekend, earning the start and playing 71 minutes in the squad’s 0-0 draw against the Washington Spirit.

The Elkridge, Md., native was selected No. 5 overall in the 2018 NWSL College Draft in January. She became the third Blue Devil in history selected with a top five pick, joining current Sky Blue FC teammate Christina Gibbons (5th, FC Kansas City, 2017) and the Spirit’s Rebecca Quinn (3rd, Washington Spirit, 2018).

A four-year starter for the Blue Devils, Dorsey capped her career with a standout senior season. A United Soccer Coaches First Team All-American, National Scholar Athlete of the Year and the 2017 ACC Offensive Player of the Year, Dorsey tallied a team-high 14 goals and 38 points to go along with 10 assists on the season and tied a school record with six-straight games with a goal from Aug. 20 – Sept. 8. Dorsey paced a Blue Devil attack that stood second nationally in points with 171, third with 60 goals, sixth with 51 assists and ninth with a 2.31 goals per game average.

Dorsey and Sky Blue FC starts a three-game road trip this weekend, starting out against the Orlando Pride on Saturday, June 16.
