DURHAM, N.C. – A pair of Blue Devils reeled in preseason conference honors Monday, as senior Kayla McCoy and junior Ella Stevens were named to the 11-member preseason All-ACC team following a vote by the 14 league head coaches.

This is the first preseason All-ACC honor for both players, while the Blue Devils were picked to finish fourth in the league. As a team, the reigning ACC regular season champions received 151 points, including three first-place votes.

Duke will look to keep its momentum rolling from a historical 2017 season that saw the Blue Devils finish a perfect 10-0-0 in ACC play and reach their fourth NCAA College Cup. Head coach Robbie Church returns five starters and a wealth of experience in 2018, including four of the squad’s top five scorers. Headlining the returners are all-conference selections McCoy (14 goals, seven assists, 35 points) and Stevens (11 assists, five goals and 21 points).

A First Team All-ACC selection in 2017, McCoy enters her final season after tying for the team lead in goals last year. The Lincolnwood, Ill., native recorded a goal in 12 contests last season and paced the Blue Devils with a pair of multi-goal performances. McCoy currently stands tied for seventh in the DWS record books in career game-winning goals (10) and multi-goal games (4).

Stevens enters her third season in Durham as one the squad’s veteran leaders after a 2017 campaign that saw her lead the Blue Devils in assists and stand third in points and land All-ACC Second Team laurels. Hailing from Grayson, Ga., Stevens is four assists shy of cracking Duke’s career top 10 list and is tied for 14th in career game-winnings goals (8).

McCoy, Stevens and the rest of the Blue Devils will host a pair of exhibition contests at Koskinen Stadium this week, facing off against Georgia (Thursday, Aug. 9 at 7 p.m. ET) and rival North Carolina (Sunday, Aug. 12 at 10 p.m.). The 2018 season officially opens at home against Ohio State, a 7 p.m. showdown on Thursday, Aug. 16.
