Last Time Out…
In their first road match of the 2018 season, the No. 11 Duke Blue Devils played to a scoreless draw against No. 15 Georgetown in Washington, D.C., as both defenses put on spectacular performances. Brooke Heinsohn was the star for DWS, recording a career-high 10 saves and picking up her second top 25 shutout of the season.

There was not a lack of scoring for the Blue Devils on Sunday, as they posted a 3-0 victory against Elon, a match that saw the return of former Duke standout and current Elon assistant Kim DeCesare to Koskinen. Kayla McCoy tallied the opening goal, her first of the season, and was followed by scores from freshmen Mackenzie Pluck and Marykate McGuire. Heinsohn tallied a trio of saves in her third clean sheet of the season.

McCoy, Stevens Close to Cracking Top 10 Lists...
With her goal on Sunday against Elon, Kayla McCoy moved one step closer to cracking the top 10 list for goals scored in DWS history. She currently sits at 27 and with her next score will tie former Blue Devils Caitlin Connolly (1989-92), Carolyn Riggs (2002-05) and Kaitlyn Kerr (2010-13) for 10th all-time.

McCoy wasn’t the only Blue Devil to make moves up the career charts, as Ella Stevens tallied two assists against Elon to move her one shy of 10th all-time at Duke. She now has 20 for her career and will tie Lauren Tippets (2003-06), Gilda Doria (2010-14) and Toni Payne (2013-16) with her next dime.

Career Goal No. 1 for McGuire…
After coming close in the first three matches of the season, freshman Marykate McGuire finally broke through with her first-career goal on Sunday against Elon. Ella Stevens fed the ball to the left side of the 18’ to McGuire, who slammed it home to put the match’s score at its final total, 3-0.

McGuire is the second Blue Devil this year to score her first-career goal, joining Mackenzie Pluck who tallied her first score in the season-opening win against No. 23 Ohio State.

Heinsohn Named ACC Defensive POTW, Earns TopDrawerSoccer Honorable Mention…
After posting a pair of shutouts, including a career showing in a top 15 road matchup, Duke Blue Devils’ redshirt sophomore goalkeeper Brooke Heinsohn has been named the ACC Defensive Player of the Week. Heinsohn was also named TopDrawerSoccer Team of the Week honorable mention.

The is the first ACC weekly honor for Heinsohn in her career. This is the first weekly laurel for a Blue Devil since Chelsea Burns was tabbed ACC Defensive Player of the Week on Oct. 31, 2017 and the first for a Duke netminder since EJ Proctor on Sept. 12, 2017.

Heinsohn recorded her second and third shutouts of the season last week. Topping that list was a career-high 10 saves in the clean sheet at No. 15 Georgetown, as the two sides played to a scoreless draw. The Norfolk, Mass., native then turned in a second-straight shutout in a Sunday 3-0 victory against Elon behind three saves.
