DeVon Edwards, a former All-America and Academic All-America selection as a member of Duke’s football program, joined the Blue Devil staff in May of 2018 and serves as a Coordinator of Administrative Operations.
A native of Covington, Ga., Edwards lettered four seasons as a defensive back and return specialist for the Blue Devils and helped Duke to 31 wins, three bowl game appearances and the 2013 ACC Coastal Division championship. In 44 career games, he recorded 327 tackles and five interceptions while returning 74 kickoffs for 2,060 yards and six touchdowns. Edwards was a three-time All-America choice, three-time All-ACC pick, four-time Academic All-ACC selection and CoSIDA Academic All-America honoree in 2015 in addition to being named a finalist for the National Football Foundation’s William V. Campbell Trophy in 2016.
Edwards, who received a total of four ACC Player of the Week citations, finished his career holding school records for kickoff return average (27.84) and kickoff returns for touchdowns and became the second player in NCAA history to score touchdowns via interception return on consecutive snaps from scrimmage (25 & 45 yards against N.C. State in 2013), joining former Duke cornerback Leon Wright, who did so against Army West Point in 2009. In addition to his on-field accomplishments, Edwards, who served as a team captain during his senior campaign, was named to the American Football Coaches Association Good Works Team for outstanding community service in 2016.
Edwards graduated from Duke in 2016 with a degree in psychology and a certificate in markets and management and later earned a master’s degree in liberal studies in 2017.
