DURHAM, N.C. – The Breakdown with Dave Harding series kicks off with defensive end Victor Dimukeje’s interception against Georgia Tech in the second quarter of Duke’s 43-20 victory on November 25, 2017.
With the Blue Devils trailing 14-10 in the second frame, the Yellow Jackets faced a third-and-six at the Blue Devil 34-yard line. Georgia Tech quarterback TaQuon Marshall attempted a screen pass, but Dimukeje tipped the football into the air and secured the interception before rumbling 26 yards into Yellow Jacket territory, where Duke would eventually kick a field goal to pull within one point.
Dimukeje was a First team Freshman All-America pick by ESPN after starting all 13 games in 2017. He totaled 40 tackles, 7.5 tackles for lost yardage, 2.0 sacks, one interception, one fumble recovery, one pass breakup and four quarterback pressures. The Baltimore, Md., product led all ACC rookies in TFL and was one of five Blue Devils to register 7.5+ TFL on the season. Dimukeje compiled eight games with three or more tackles, including a season-high six stops against Wake Forest as Duke won its sixth game of the season to secure bowl eligibility.
