DURHAM, N.C. – The Breakdown with Dave Harding series chugs along into its fifth week with quarterback Thaddeus Lewis' 42-yard touchdown pass to Connor Vernon at Virginia in the fourth quarter of Duke’s comeback 28-17 victory on October 31, 2009.
With Duke trailing 17-12 with under four minutes remaining in the game, Lewis hooked up with Vernon for the go-ahead score as the Blue Devils rallied for the win. Facing a third-and-nine at the Virginia 42-yard line, Lewis struck for his lone touchdown pass of the day as he finished 24-for-40 for 343 yards.
During his four years as a starting quarterback for the Blue Devils, Lewis threw for 10,065 yards, 67 touchdowns and 40 interceptions, and ran for nine scores. During his senior season, the Opa-Locka, Fla., native was a finalist for the Davey O'Brien Award, presented to the nation's top quarterback.
