DURHAM, N.C. – Duke senior wide receiver T.J. Rahming added another All-Bowl Team citation with a selection by Sports Illustrated. Earlier this week, Rahming earned a place on The Associated Press All-Bowl team. The Powder Springs, Ga., native received the selections following his record-setting performance during the Blue Devils’ 56-27 win over Temple on December 27 in the Walk-On’s Independence Bowl in Shreveport, La.
Rahming caught 12 passes for 240 yards and two touchdowns in the victory over the Owls, breaking Independence Bowl record for receiving yards and all-purpose yards (286) while matching the bowl mark for pass receptions. As a Blue Devil, Rahming set bowl game records for receiving yards in a game, receiving yards in a half (150; 2nd), receiving yards in a quarter (140; 3rd), all-purpose yards, pass receptions in a half (8; 2nd), highest yards per reception average (20.00) and most receptions of 20-plus yards (4).
His performance helped Duke to its third consecutive bowl victory, allowing the Blue Devils to join Syracuse and Wake Forest as the only ACC programs to have an active bowl winning streak of three or more games. Nationally, Duke trails only Alabama and Wisconsin (four each) in bowl wins during the last four seasons. Rahming also became the first Blue Devil to start in three bowl victories.
The Blue Devils finished the 2018 campaign at 8-5 while participating in a bowl game for the sixth time in the last seven years.
