DURHAM, N.C. – The Breakdown with Dave Harding series heads into its second week with defensive tackle Trevon McSwain's sack against Northern Illinois in the first quarter of Duke’s 36-14 win versus the Huskies in the Quick Lane Bowl.
With the Blue Devils leading 7-0 and around five minutes remaining in the opening frame, NIU faced third-and-nine from its own 20-yard line. McSwain broke through the line and dropped Marcus Childers for a nine-yard loss. The Huskies attempted a fake punt on the ensuing play and Duke took over possession at the Northern Illinois 11-yard line, setting up a Shaun Wilson touchdown for a 14-0 lead.
McSwain played in all 13 games as a redshirt sophomore in 2017. He totaled 23 tackles, 3.0 tackles for lost yardage, 2.5 sacks, one caused fumble and one quarterback pressure. The Suwanee, Ga., product logged two or more tackles in seven games, including a season-high five stops at Virginia.
