GREENSBORO, N.C. – Redshirt junior linebacker Joe Giles-Harris and redshirt quarterback Daniel Jones will represent Duke at the 2018 ACC Football Kickoff, July 18-19 at the Westin Charlotte located in Charlotte, N.C.

The Atlantic Coast Conference announced Friday the 28 football student-athletes who have been chosen by its 14 league schools to attend the main preseason event. Duke and the rest of the Coastal Division will hold its media availability at the kickoff on Wednesday, July 18.

Giles-Harris returns for his third year as a starting linebacker for the Blue Devils. He is a preseason second team All-America selection by Athlon Sports, Phil Steele’s College Football Preview and Sporting News. The Nyack, N.Y., product is listed by Lindy’s Sports as the No. 3 outside linebacker in the nation and is charted as the No. 15 linebacker and the No. 99 overall player in the country by Sports Illustrated. In 25 career games (25 starts), Giles-Harris has 232 tackles, 25.5 tackles for lost yardage, 8.5 sacks, two interceptions, six pass breakups, one caused fumble, one fumble recovery and 13 quarterback pressures. He enters the 2018 season as one of eight active players nationally with 200 or more career tackles, 20.0 or more career TFL and 8.0 or more career sacks.

Jones heads into 2018 for his third campaign as Duke’s starting quarterback. He is a preseason third team All-ACC selection by Phil Steele and one of just two active quarterbacks nationally with 5,500 or more career passing yards and 1,000 or more career rushing yards, joining Syracuse’s Eric Dungey. Jones, a product of Charlotte, N.C., is coming off a 2017 season that saw him be one of only three returning FBS quarterbacks to amass 2,500 or more passing yards and 500 or more rushing yards. The 2017 Quick Lane Bowl MVP, Jones has played in and started 25 career games, completing 527-of-883 (.597) passes for 5,527 yards with 30 touchdowns and 20 interceptions.

Duke opens the 2018 season at home on Friday, August 31 against Army West Point. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m., and the game will be televised by ESPNU.

Season tickets may be purchased by calling the Duke Athletic Ticket Office at 919-681-BLUE or online at GoDuke.com/FootballTix.
