DURHAM, N.C. – Duke redshirt sophomore linebacker Joe Giles-Harris earned ACC Linebacker of the Week honors following the Blue Devils’ 28-21 loss at Virginia this past Saturday, announced on Monday by the league office.
Giles-Harris, a 6-2, 230-pound native of Nyack, N.Y., recorded 15 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, 1.0 quarterback sack, two quarterback pressures, one caused fumble and one pass breakup.
Ten of Giles-Harris’ game-high tackle total resulted in three yards or less while six yielded no gain or negative yardage as Duke limited the Cavaliers to 310 yards of total offense – 123.5 yards below their season average entering the week. The double digit tackle outing marked the second of the year for Giles-Harris and the seventh of his career.
On the season, Giles-Harris leads Duke in total tackles (58) and tackles for loss (10.0) while ranking second in sacks (3.5). In the ACC, he ranks third in tackles per game (9.67).
The ACC’s other weekly honors included N.C. State’s Ryan Finley (Offensive Back) and Will Richardson (Offensive Lineman), Miami’s Braxton Berrios (Receiver), Boston College’s Zach Allen (Defensive Lineman), Virginia’s Quin Blanding (Defensive Back), Pittsburgh’s Alex Kessman (Specialist) and Virginia Tech’s Sean Savoy (Rookie).
The Blue Devils return to action on Saturday at 12 noon by hosting Florida State. The game will be televised by ESPN2.
