DURHAM, N.C. – Duke senior linebacker Ben Humphreys earned ACC Linebacker of the Week honors and redshirt junior quarterback Daniel Jones picked up Quarterback of the Week accolades following the Blue Devils’ 21-7 win at Northwestern this past Saturday, announced the league office Monday.

The two are the first league weekly awards for the Blue Devils this season. Humphreys owns two ACC Linebacker of the Week selection in his career while Jones now has five weekly accolades.

Humphreys, a 6-2, 225-pound native of Newport Beach, Calif., recorded 15 tackles and 0.5 tackles for lost yardage. Duke’s defensive effort helped snap Northwestern’s nine-game winning streak, which entered the weekend as the longest active streak among Power 5 teams.

Five of Humphreys’ game-high tackle total resulted in no gain for the Wildcats while he had one for minus-three yards. He also was credited with tackles on two third-down snaps.

The Duke defense held Northwestern scoreless over the final 54:50 of the contest. Humphreys and his unit blanked the Wildcats in the second half despite Northwestern running 29 plays in Duke territory.

Jones, a 6-5, 220-pound Charlotte, N.C., native, completed 16-of-22 (.727) passes for 192 yards and three touchdowns before leaving the contest due to injury late in the third quarter. He posted a pass efficiency rating of 191.04 en route to becoming the fourth quarterback in Duke history to throw three or more touchdown passes in a quarter.

The ACC’s other weekly honors included Clemson’s Tee Higgins (Offensive Receiver), Mitch Hyatt (Offensive Lineman) and Clelin Ferrell (Defensive Lineman), Boston College’s AJ Dillon (Running Back), Virginia’s Juan Thornhill (Defensive Back), Wake Forest’s Greg Dortch (Specialist) and N.C. State’s Thayer Thomas (Rookie).

The Blue Devils return to action on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. at Baylor. The game will be televised by FS1.
