DURHAM, N.C. – Junior defensive specialist Nicole Elattrache is set to take part in the U.S. Women’s National Team open tryouts March 3-5 at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo.

This past season, Elattrache appeared in 28 of Duke’s 30 matches, totaling career highs in digs (269) and digs per set (2.59). She picked up double-digit digs in 14 matches and helped the Blue Devils lead the ACC in digs per set (18.31). Elattrache also took part in the U.S. National Team tryouts a year ago.

Over 240 players representing 81 colleges and 10 high schools will attend the tryouts, vying for sports on the U.S. Women’s National Team, U.S. Collegiate National Team or U.S. Junior National Team. Three-time Olympic gold medalist and U.S. Olympic Hall of Fame member Karch Kiraly and the U.S. Women’s National Team staff will lead the three-day tryout process.

Beginning at 4 p.m. ET (2 p.m. MT) Friday, March 3, USA Volleyball will stream tryouts via its official website.

Several Blue Devils have taken advantage of opportunities to compete with various USA Volleyball programs the past few years. Emily Sklar represented the United States at the 2015 World University Games in Gwangju City, South Korea, journeyed to China with the 2014 U.S. Collegiate National Team and joined the U.S. Junior A1 International Team in Pula, Croatia for the 2013 European Global Challenge. In addition, Breanna Atkinson participated in the U.S. Collegiate National Team training program in Minneapolis and Christina Vucich has trained with the U23 Beach Volleyball team in California each of the past two summers.
