Hey Duke VB fans! Today, Duke volleyball took on the city of Florence. We woke up and walked to the Duomo and into some of the museums. There are so many museums in Italy that it's impossible to see and learn everything in one day, but we tried to pack in as much as we possibly could. We visited Ponte Vecchio, the famous bridge over the Arno river that is lined with jewelry stores. Florence is famous for their Italian leather products, so we shopped in the many leather stores around the city as well. It's safe to say that the shopaholics on our team loved the streets of Florence!
The whole team met up in the afternoon for lunch at a cute little trattoria on the piazza. We finished our afternoon with a few scoops of gelato before heading back to the hotel to prepare for our match. We played Caso de Franco, a Italian professional team, in another super competitive match. We played four sets and ended up going 2-2. It's amazing to see how quickly our team is adjusting to this different style of volleyball. After our match, we headed to a local restaurant where we ate with Caso de Franco and their coaches. We ate and enjoyed each other's company for hours, a great ending to our full day!!
Check back in tomorrow to hear about our first match in Rome!
