DURHAM, N.C. – Sophomore Samantha Amos and Natalie Schilling combined for 24 kills to lead Duke to its fourth straight set victory of the season, helping the Blue Devils top Coastal Carolina 3-0 (25-18, 25-23, 25-15) Friday evening in Cameron Indoor Stadium.

Schilling knocked down a career-high 13 kills while Amos amassed 11. Both Blue Devils hit better than .600 for the match, combining for a .667 clip.

Setters Emma Paradiso and Sarah Nelson led Duke (8-2) to a .382 hitting percentage as a team, the Blue Devils’ highest mark this season. Paradiso dished out 25 assists and Nelson had 15 to orchestrate the offense.

Freshman outside hitter Payton Schwantz and senior middle blocker Anna Kropf also had productive evenings in a well-rounded Duke effort. Schwantz recorded a .444 attack percentage while dropping 10 kills to record her fifth straight match with double-digit kills. Kropf added eight kills on .357 hitting to go along with two blocks.

“[We’re] very excited,” said head coach Jolene Nagel. “I didn’t know we would be as efficient as we were tonight so it ended up being a great night for us. We served pretty well. We controlled the ball when we got a chance to touch it and it really gave us some opportunities. We covered our hitters pretty well and that gave us second chances so we could transition and score.”

Duke posted a .385 first-set hitting percentage en route to a 25-18 victory. Amos had five kills on seven swings to pace the Blue Devils.

The second set featured a closer finish. Schilling laid down a kill after the two teams battled to a 22-all tie. A Chanticleer attack error established set point and Kropf completed the stanza with a kill, Duke’s 17th of the set.

The Blue Devils never trailed in the third, coasting to a 25-15 win. Duke led 12-5 early and grew the margin to 10 late in the set. Kropf’s eighth and final kill ultimately sealed both the set and the match.

Next up, Duke takes on Loyola Marymount Saturday, Sept. 16 in Cameron. Opening serve is set for 6:30 p.m., on ACC Network Extra.
