Today was another amazing day for Duke volleyball in Italy. We started the day leaving Milan at 8am to head to Cinque Terre for a full day of hiking, sightseeing, and of course eating more delicious food. We hiked from the village of Cornigilia to Vernazza, an hour and a half hike up steep hills, but the breathtaking scenery made us forget how tired our legs were. Thankfully, we have our amazing trainer Melissa with us to give us a recovery to get us ready to play tomorrow! After all that walking, we took a train to Monterosso al Mare, where we ate lunch right on the water.

Then we hopped on the bus to our beautiful hotel in Florence! We are within walking distance of the main Piazza and the Duomo. We all walked to a local restaurant and had an amazing, authentic Italian meal together, finishing up with a delicious piece of tiramisu. We walked back to the hotel super full and happy.

Sophomore Sarah Nelson says that the meal was actually her favorite part of the day! "The hike was amazing and the view we had over lunch was gorgeous, and our dinner was something you can only find here in Italy. Plus, it's even more amazing to share these memories with my teammates!! This trip is such a bonding experience and it's the perfect way to top off our spring season."

Thanks for checking out our travel stories!! Up next on the schedule is a day of sightseeing in Florence and our second match!
