DURHAM, N.C. – Duke freshman Marvin Bagley III, who leads the ACC in scoring and rebounding, has been named the ACC Rookie of the Week for the third time in four weeks.
Bagley registered two more double-doubles last week, scoring a game-high 23 points with 10 rebounds in the top-ranked Blue Devils’ win at Indiana, followed by 19 points and 12 rebounds in a victory over visiting South Dakota. The freshman blocked a career-high three shots against South Dakota.
With eight double-doubles, Bagley is second in the NCAA and leads all freshmen nationally. He has posted a double-double in five straight games and in six of the last seven.
The Phoenix, Ariz., native is one of just eight players nationally this season to be averaging a double-double while shooting .600 or higher from the field. The rookie is leading the ACC in both scoring (22.0 ppg) and rebounding (11.2 rpg).
At least one Blue Devil has earned an ACC weekly honor every week this season, led by Bagley’s five.
Duke (10-0) is back in action Tuesday, welcoming St. Francis (Pa.) at 9 p.m. on ESPNU.
