SPRINGFIELD, Mass. -- Duke senior guard Grayson Allen is a finalist for the 2018 Jerry West Shooting Guard of the Year Award, announced by the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.

Allen played his way on the list of 10 national finalists by scoring an average of 14.5 points per game and shooting .431 from the floor, .365 from outside the arc and .833 from the free throw line. He is also averaging 3.5 rebounds and 4.4 assists.

Allen is one of two from the ACC, joining Syracuse’s Tyus Battle.

The Jacksonville, Fla., native has scored in double figures in 17 of Duke’s 23 games, including a career-high 37 points in a win over then-No. 2 Michigan State in the Champions Classic. With 101 assists so far, he is on pace to eclipse his career high of 127 assists from the 2015-16 season. His 4.4 assists per game is seventh in the ACC and he is fifth in the conference in assist-to-turnover ratio (2.4).

For his career, Allen owns averages of 13.7 points, 3.2 rebounds and 2.8 assists in 26.7 minutes. He is 21st all-time at Duke with 1,757 career points and is the ACC active leader in scoring and in three-point field goals (244).

In March, the list of finalists for the West Award will be cut to five and presented to the Hall of Fame’s selection committee, of which West is a member. The winner will be presented at the College Basketball Awards Show in Los Angeles, Ca., live on ESPN2.
