DURHAM, N.C. – Members of the Duke fencing team are set to kick off the 2018 fall slate Oct. 12-14 at the October North American Cup (NAC) in Milwaukee, Wisc. Representing the 2018-19 squad will be junior Aidan McGinnis, sophomore Maria Papadopoulos, redshirt sophomore Ben Stone and freshmen Huda Aldadah, Ava Navarro, Julia Noguchi and Zoe Superville.
Aldadah, Papadopoulos and Navarro will kick off the weekend Friday in Division I Women’s Epee with registration ending at 1 p.m. Aldadah is seeded No. 88 followed by Papadopoulos (No. 86) and Navarro (No. 93). Papadopoulos is coming off a rookie campaign with a 46-30 overall ledger that included a 10th-place finish at the ACC Championships and a trip to the NCAA Mid-Atlantic/South Regional.
McGinnis will continue competition Saturday afternoon in Division I Men’s Epee and is seeded No. 163. Stone will take the strips Sunday morning in Division I Men’s Saber and enters the weekend as the 33rd seed.
Rookies Noguchi (No. 51) and Superville (No. 146) will round out Duke’s time in Milwaukee Sunday afternoon in Division I Women’s Foil.
In addition to current Blue Devils, recent graduate and two-time All-America honoree Pascual Di Tella will hit the strips in Division I Men’s Saber and is seeded No. 35.
