DURHAM, N.C. -- The Duke Blue Devils have received the No. 2 seed in the Midwest Region and will open play in the program’s 42nd all-time NCAA tournament appearance on Thursday versus Iona in the first round in Pittsburgh, Pa.

It is the 23rd consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance for Duke and its 34th overall under head coach Mike Krzyzewski – no coach has more.

Duke has never faced Iona in men’s basketball and owns a 13-3 overall record against teams that currently comprise the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC).

The Blue Devils are 108-36 (.750) all-time in the NCAA Tournament, marking the best winning percentage in tournament history. Duke’s 108 wins are also third-most in the event’s history and Coach K holds the NCAA record with 91 NCAA Tournament wins.

The Blue Devils were last selected to the Midwest Region in 2012. The program’s first national championship in 1991 came as a No. 2 seed out of the Midwest Region. Duke has been a No. 1 or No. 2 seed in 17 of the past 21 seasons and 11 of the past 14.

The Blue Devils are 13-5 (.722) as a participant in the Midwest Region and 27-10 (.743) as a No. 2 seed. Duke has never played in Pittsburgh in the NCAA Tournament, but is 6-0 in NCAA Tournament games in the state of Pennsylvania.

Game times have yet to be announced.
