Duke Lands Two Signees for 2008-09 Recruiting Class

Durham, N.C. – The Duke men’s basketball team added two players to its roster for the 2008-09 season as Elliot Williams and Olek Czyz signed national letters of intent to play for the Blue Devils.
Williams, a 6’4” shooting guard from Memphis, Tenn., is a five-star recruit. He is listed as the No. 3 shooting guard in the country by rivals.com and is No. 4 at his position according to scout.com. He is also ranked as the No. 14 prospect overall by scout.com and is listed as the 16th best player in the nation on the Rivals150 list. In his junior season at St. George’s, he averaged 22 points and six rebounds per game while leading his team to the state championship game. As a sophomore he posted big numbers with 25 points, seven rebounds and six assists per contest.
Czyz, a 6’7” forward from Reno, Nevada, is a native of Poland and has been in the United States for three years. He was ranked as the No. 27 power forward in the country by scout.com and No. 27 by rivals.com. He was listed at No. 88 overall by scout.com and was the No. 102 player on the Rivals150 list. Last season as a junior he averaged 18.7 points and 8.3 rebounds per game while leading Reno High School to a 24-6 record. His sophomore year he helped lead his high school team to the State Championship, averaging 10 points and six rebounds per game along the way.
The two players will add depth to an already experienced and veteran squad which will only lose one senior to graduation following the 2007-08 season.
