- Duke is second in the latest RPI according to CollegeRPI.com. The site also ranks Duke’s strength of schedule second in the NCAA.
- The Blue Devils recorded a 66-58 win at Florida State on Saturday in their last outing. Duke limited the Seminoles to just 14 first-half points in the contest.
- Junior Gerald Henderson scored a career-high 25 points on 9-of-14 shooting from the field. He was 3-of-4 from the three-point line and 4-of-6 from the foul line in the win. Henderson also had five rebounds and three steals in the game.
- Gerald Henderson scored 14 of his 25 points in the opening half of play against Florida State, matching the Seminoles first half scoring output. Henderson was 4-of-8 from the field and 4-of-4 from the foul line in the first half.
- Sophomores Kyle Singler and Nolan Smith also reached double figures in scoring with 15 and 12 points apiece in Wednesday’s win over Florida State.
Numbers Game
- Duke has won 16 straight games in the month of January dating back to a 74-63 loss at Georgia Tech on Jan. 10, 2007.
- The Blue Devils are 195-54 under Coach K in the month of January, including an 89-7 mark since 1998.
- Wednesday’s game marks the 50th career game for sophomores Kyle Singler and Nolan Smith. Duke is 42-7 (.857) since the duo joined the program.
- Sophomore Kyle Singler is the only player in the ACC to rank among the conference leaders in points (11th), rebounds (t-11th), assists (9th) and steals (t-3rd). He leads the team in all four categories.
- Junior Gerald Henderson has reached double figures in scoring in each of the last seven games, averaging 16.3 points per game in those outings. He has scored at least 15 points in four of his last five games, including a career-best 25 points on Saturday against Florida State.
- The Blue Devils are allowing an ACC-low 51.0 points per game in conference play, 10 points lower than the next best scoring defense (Maryland, 61.0). Duke has held both of its ACC opponents to under 60 points. The Blue Devils gave up only 44 points to Virginia Tech, including 13 in the second half and 58 points to Florida State, including 14 points in the first half.
- In three January games, Duke is shooting .396 (19-of-48) from behind the three-point line. The Blue Devils have improved their long range accuracy after shooting .323 in November and .319 in December from beyond the arc.
- Gerald Henderson is shooting .811 (43-of-53) from the free throw line this season to rank 10th in the ACC. Entering this season, he was a career .657 (138-of-210) shooter from the charity stripe.
- In the last four games, Duke has held its opponents to .186 (11-of-59) shooting from three-point range. The Blue Devils held three of their last four opponents below 20 percent shooting from three-point distance in the game. They have now held six opponents to under 20 percent shooting from deep this season.
- Since losing to Michigan, 81-73, on Dec. 6, the Blue Devils have not allowed more than 70 points in a game. Duke’s opponents are averaging just 56.7 points per game over the last six contests. On the year, the Blue Devils are allowing an ACC-low 60.5 points per game.
- Duke has forced 264 turnovers (17.6 topg.), fourth most in the ACC, in 2008-09. The Blue Devils have as many steals (142) as their opponents have assists (142) for the season.
- Sophomore Kyle Singler has at least five rebounds in all 15 games this season. He is averaging a team-high 7.5 rebounds per game on the year, which ranks 11th in the ACC.
- The Blue Devils are 8-0 this season when a player scores 20 or more points. Duke has four different players who have tallied at least 20 points in a game this season, with Kyle Singler and Jon Scheyer each with four 20+ point games.
- Sophomore Nolan Smith is shooting .923 (36-of-39) from the free throw line on the season. He has been perfect from the line in 10 games this season. His 6-of-6 performance against Florida State matched a career high.
