DURHAM, N.C. - J.J. Redick set a new Duke season scoring mark en route to a 25-point performance as top-seeded and third-ranked Duke defeated eighth seed Miami 80-76 Friday in the quarterfinal round of the 2006 ACC Tournament. 

Redick now has 858 points this season and surpassed Jason Williams' 2001 total of 841 to set the new season record.

Redick's biggest shot of the day came with 34 seconds left as Duke held just a one-point lead.  Redick stepped back with a Miami defender in his face and hit a jumper just inside the three-point line to put Duke up 76-73.  Miami's Robert Hite missed a three-pointer and Lee Melchionni was fouled on the rebound and hit both free throws to put Duke up five 78-73.  Guillermo Diaz hit a tough three-pointer with eight seconds left and then Redick was fouled on the inbounds pass.  Redick hit both free throws and Hite missed a long three at the buzzer for the final score.

Shelden Williams had 14 points and 13 rebounds along with five blocks on the inside for Duke while DeMarcus Nelson scored 14 points and Josh McRoberts added 10 points and seven rebounds for the Blue Devils.  Greg Paulus had eight points with a pair of three-pointers and five assists in the game.

Duke will now face the winner of the Wake Forest vs. N.C. State game, set to tip about 2:45 p.m. ET.
