GREENSBORO, N.C. – For the second straight week, Duke University fifth-year senior Lexie Brown has been selected ACC Player of the Week. The 5-9 guard averaged 24.5 points, 4.0 steals, 3.5 rebounds and 3.0 assists over two contests prior to the Christmas break.
A native of Suwanee, Ga., Brown spearheaded a Blue Devil defense that has held opponents to 40 points or below in three straight games for the first time in school history.
Against Maine, Brown tallied 26 points, five steals, three rebounds and three assists as the Blue Devils won 69-39. She hit 11-of-13 field goals and 2-of-3 from downtown. Brown collected 23 points, four rebounds, three assists and three steals in a 63-40 win over Wyoming.
Brown hit 69.2 percent from the field and 50.0 percent from downtown for the week. She hit 90.9 percent from the charity strip, draining 10-of-11. Brown has scored 20 or more points in four consecutive games, which matches a career best.
On the season, Brown ranks tied for first in the ACC with a 20.8 scoring average and leads the league in steals with a 3.8 per game average. She also leads the ACC with an 88.7 free throw percentage and ranks tied sixth in assist (4.8).
The 14th-ranked Blue Devils (10-2) will next host Liberty Friday, Dec. 29 at 7 p.m., in Cameron Indoor Stadium to close non-conference action.
