DURHAM, N.C. – Following two road matches, the third-ranked Duke women’s tennis team returns to Durham to host two ACC opponents at Ambler Tennis Stadium this weekend. The Blue Devils welcome 15th-ranked Wake Forest Friday at 6 p.m., before taking on Pittsburgh Sunday for a noon first serve.

Friday marks the 66th meeting between the Blue Devils and the Demon Deacons as Duke holds a strong 61-4 record. In their last meeting, the Blue Devils blanked the Demon Deacons, 7-0, in Winston-Salem.

After suffering their first conference loss of the season to top-ranked North Carolina, the Blue Devils bounced back with a 5-2 victory Saturday over 22nd-ranked Michigan at the USTA National Campus Collegiate Series in Orlando, Fla.

The Blue Devils are facing their ninth straight ranked opponent Friday as the Demon Deacons check in at No. 15 in the country. Duke’s previous seven foes include No. 16 Ohio State, No. 7 Pepperdine, No. 3 North Carolina, No. 12 Florida State, No. 18 Miami, No. 35 Georgia Tech, No. 1 North Carolina and No. 22 Michigan.

The Blue Devils landed at No. 3 in the most recent ITA team rankings and feature several on the singles and doubles list. Freshman Maria Mateas checks in at No. 18 followed by junior Meible Chi (No. 19) and sophomore Kelly Chen (No. 23).

Chen is 9-2 this season, followed by Chi (8-2) and Mateas (4-6). The Blue Devils are led by Ellyse Hamlin with an 11-1 overall record.

McCarthy and Hamlin earned the No. 24 spot on the dubs list with a 9-3 record this season. McCarthy earned another place on the doubles list with Chi as they are No. 34, followed by Mateas and Margaryta Bilokin at No. 80.

Wake Forest is 13-2 overall and 3-0 in ACC play and are coming off back-to-back 7-0 sweeps in Winston-Salem over then No. 32 Georgia Tech and Duquesne.

The Demon Deacons are led by No. 46 Emma Davis who owns an 11-1 ledger this season. Davis and Chandler Carter are tabbed No. 38 on the ITA doubles rankings.

Duke has dominated Pittsburgh since the Panthers joined the league, leading the series 5-0. Pittsburgh enters Sunday 4-8 on the year and 0-6 in conference play and are led by No. 104 Claudia Bartolome with a 7-5 record in dual matches.
