DURHAM, N.C. – Redshirt sophomore Haley Gorecki of the Duke women’s basketball team was selected the Duke Student-Athlete of the Week, after averaging 19.0 points, 6.0 assists, 4.5 rebounds, 2.0 steals and 1.0 blocks in two ACC contests on the week.
Gorecki has come on strong this season, after missing a year and a half due to injuries. The 6-0 guard notched a career-high 25 points as she hit a career-high 10-of-14 field goals and career-high 5-of-7 three-pointers on the road at third-ranked Louisville. She also dished six assists and blocked a career-high two shots.
In a home victory over NC State, Gorecki tallied 13 points, six assists, four rebounds and three steals in 32 minutes. She hit 3-of-4 treys.
On the week, Gorecki hit 72.7 percent from downtown as she hit 8-of-11 treys, while hitting 59.1 percent from the field. She has totaled double-digit scoring in seven straight games since moving into the starting lineup. Gorecki, who hails from Palatine, Ill., ranks tied fourth in the ACC in scoring with an 18.0 points per game average.
