SEATTLE, Wash. – Former Duke University women’s basketball standout Elizabeth Williams had an impressive outing Thursday evening with the USA Basketball team as the squad downed the Chinese National Team, 83-46, in an exhibition contest at KeyArena in Seattle, Wash.
The 2015 Blue Devil graduate and current member of the Atlanta Dream of the WNBA, Williams hit 5-of-6 field goals and scored 10 points, while pulling down five rebounds and blocking three shots in 16 minutes of play. Williams was one of only four USA players to score double-digits and her three blocks were tied for a game high. She added one steal and one assist as well.
The USA Basketball Team received 16 points from Sylvia Fowles, along with 14 from Breanna Stewart and Diana Taurasi to pace team USA.
Shooting 49.3 percent from the field, the U.S. defense stifled China's offense into shooting just 26.6 percent. The American women outrebounded China 44-30 and outscored the Chinese 52-18 in the paint and 18-4 on second-chance points.
Thursday’s contest closed a three-day minicamp for the 2018-20 USA Basketball Women’s National Team athlete pool.
