DURHAM, N.C.-- Hey Duke Family! I wanted to give all of our Blue Devil fans an update on my journey and how my summer is going.
My plans for the summer are to continue to enjoy time spent with my teammates and building stronger relationships on and off the court. My summer has been filled with excitement and joy. I was able to go to the beach with my teammates and have a great time as we enjoyed the sun and peaceful waves.

I am now back at school, preparing for the season and focusing on getting healthy. I am happy to say that I am progressing very well with my injury. While working on the healing process, the people around me are making it more enjoyable because being the competitor that I am, there are goals that are set every step of the way and everyone pushes me to meet those goals. I try my hardest to meet every goal set for me because it is a great feeling to accomplish things that you have worked so hard for.

Going through this injury three times, I have learned something new every time. This time I learned that having an injury makes you stronger, mentally, physically, and emotionally. Not many people have been through the process of healing from the same injury three times and to be able to overcome the adversity showed me that I can overcome anything that is thrown my way.

I am currently on campus with Haley Gorecki, Kyra Lambert, Madison Treece along with freshmen Uchenna Nwoke, and Rayah Craig. We are all working hard and building relationships on and off the court. I am also very excited for the rest of the team to join us next month. I know that we are all going to get after it and work as hard as we can. It is always a joy to be around such a great group of females all the time.

I want to thank the entire coaching staff for believing in me and putting their time into helping me become a better player. I also want to thank Ashleigh Beaver for all of her time and the constant motivation in the weight room. To Summer McKeehan and Jordan Busse, I want to thank you for everything you have done for me and are still doing for me. Without the help of you two, I wouldn’t be progressing so well in rehab. Throughout the tough days, rough days, and even great days, you guys always make sure that I am going hard and always do your best to keep me in high spirits.

Lastly, as everyone should know Clinton, N.C., is not far from Duke. On some weekends I go back to see my family and when I do go home I am always guaranteed a great home cooked meal courtesy of my beautiful mom. Going home, I am also guaranteed three quick shooting games at the gym with my two brothers and my dad. My family has been with me every step of the way, so being able to spend time with them always warms my heart.
Hopefully in July, I will be able to spend a weekend down in Florida to watch my little brother play in a basketball tournament. Thank you Blue Devil Family, I hope you’ll have a fantastic summer.

Go Duke!
