Twichell Takes 16th In 1650 Freestyle At NCAA Championships

DURHAM, N.C. - Freshman Ashley Twichell was in action at the 2008 NCAA Women's Swimming and Diving Championships this weekend, held at McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion and hosted by The Ohio State University, and closed out the competition with a 16th-place showing in the 1650 freestyle to earn All-America honors.

The Fayetteville, N.Y., native touched in 16:16.18 for the scoring finish in the mile on Saturday and was also in action on Friday in the 200 freestyle prelims, as she finished 68th with a time of 1:49.73.

Twichell placed 26th in the 500 free prelims on Thursday with a mark of 4:45.40, which was four spots in front of her seeded time, as she was ranked 30th heading into the race.
