Lehman Earns At-Large Bid To NCAA Championships

DURHAM, N.C. – Duke senior Molly Lehman today received word that she has earned an at-large bid to the 2009 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships in the 1500 meters, making her the fourth and final member of Blue Devil track & field headed there. The national championships are set for June 10-13 at the University of Arkansas’ John McDonnell Field in Fayetteville, Ark.

She joins Patricia Loughlin (steeplechase), Jade Ellis (long jump), and Tyler Clarke (decathlon) as 2009 qualifiers.

Lehman will race in the women’s 1500m semifinals on June 11 at 7:55 p.m. The finals of that event are set for June 13 at 1:09 p.m.

Loughlin will hit the semifinals of the women’s steeple June 10 at 7:50 p.m., while the final round is scheduled for June 12 at 6:25 p.m.

Ellis will go in the qualifying round of the long jump June 10 at 4 p.m., with the finals June 11 at 4:45 p.m.

Clarke’s first day of action in the decathlon will be June 10 at 11:30 a.m., and will wrap up June 11 starting at 2:30 p.m.

The Blue Devils most recently completed competition at the 2009 NCAA East Regionals in Greensboro, N.C., where the Duke women finished tied for 26th in the region with eight team points and the men tied for 28th with their eight as well.
