DURHAM, N.C. – Six members of the Duke baseball team earned All-ACC Academic Team honors as announced by the league Friday. Junior starting pitcher Ryan Day, graduate student relief pitcher Nick Hendrix, sophomore outfielder Jimmy Herron, sophomore shortstop Zack Kone, senior relief pitcher Kevin Lewallyn and junior designated hitter/outfielder Michael Smiciklas represented the Blue Devils on the 2017 list.

The All-ACC Academic Team distinction is the second of Kone’s career while Day, Hendrix, Herron, Lewallyn and Smiciklas all make their first career appearance on the list.

Duke’s six selections ranked third in the conference behind only Louisville (10) and Clemson (7).

Minimum academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one’s academic career for undergraduate students. Athletic achievements during the most recent season are also considered in selecting the All-ACC Academic Team.

The ACC Honor Roll, which recognizes all conference student-athletes with a grade point average of 3.0 for the current academic year, will be released in July.
