DURHAM, N.C. – Duke junior outfielder Griffin Conine earned the Cape Cod Baseball League’s Robert A. McNeece Award, given to the league’s top pro prospect as voted on by Major League Baseball scouts.

In 41 games this summer with Cotuit, Conine leads the CCBL with nine home runs and also ranks fourth in the league with a .335 (54-161) batting average. Conine has also notched five doubles, a triple and 28 RBI heading into the league’s playoffs.

A second team All-ACC pick this past season with the Blue Devils, Conine was also selected to the CCBL All-Star Game, garnering West Division MVP honors in the contest.

As a sophomore in 2017, Conine led the Blue Devils in slugging percentage (.571), on base percentage (.437), RBI (56), triples (2), home runs (13), total bases (117) and walks (40). Conine was the first Blue Devil to total 50-plus RBI in a season since first baseman Nate Freiman (62) in 2009. He is also the first Duke player with 10 or more home runs in a season since Jake Lemmerman (10) in 2010. In addition, Conine was selected to the roster for the eighth annual College Home Run Derby at TD Ameritrade Park in Omaha, Neb. July 1.
