DURHAM, N.C. – In his sixth season as Duke’s head coach, Chris Pollard is delighted to announce the signing of outfielder Damon Lux to a National Letter of Intent. A native of Shelbyville, Ind., Lux’s addition continues to strengthen Duke’s 12-player recruiting class set to arrive in Durham this coming fall.
“Damon really fits the profile of the type of outfielder we’ve had in our program the past couple years,” said Pollard. “He’s very athletic and can really run. Damon projects to hit with some power. We really like his combination of speed and power, much like the guys who have had success in our program the past couple years.”
An all-conference outfielder at Shelbyville High School, Lux hit .360 with four home runs this past season. Lux is also an accomplished football player, earning All-State 4A honorable mention recognition this year as a running back for the Golden Bears.
In addition, Perfect Game lists Lux among its 500 top prospects in the 2018 recruiting class as well as the No. 258 overall outfielder. He checks in as the organization’s No. 40 overall player and No. 5 outfielder in the state of Indiana as well.
A total of 12 players make up the Blue Devils’ 2018 recruiting class with all 12 ranked among Perfect Game’s top 500 prospects in the class. GoDuke.com will feature each member of Duke’s 2018 recruiting class every Tuesday over the coming weeks.
