DURHAM, N.C. – After winning its first ACC series of the year in dramatic fashion, No. 21 Duke returns to the Durham Bulls Athletic Park for a pair of midweek games against reigning Ivy League champion Yale Tuesday and Wednesday, March 13 and 14. Originally schedule for 6 p.m., starts, the Blue Devils and the Bulldogs will now meet at 4 p.m., both days.
This past weekend, Duke (12-3, 2-1 ACC) took 2-of-3 from then-No. 18 Virginia to claim its first series win over the Cavaliers since 2008. The Blue Devils won the opener, 6-3, then split a Saturday doubleheader. After Duke dropped the series’ second game, freshman Steve Mann laced a pinch-hit RBI single in the bottom of the 11th of Saturday’s nightcap to propel the Blue Devils to a 3-2 decision.
The Blue Devils enter the week ranked in six national polls: Baseball America (No. 20), College Baseball News (No. 20), Collegiate Baseball (No. 26), D1Baseball (No. 21), Perfect Game (No. 20) and USA Today Coaches Poll (No. 23).
Yale (2-7, 0-0 Ivy) most recently split a Saturday doubleheader at Davidson, falling 9-0 in game one before taking game two, 7-5. In nine games this season, junior Tim DeGraw leads the Bulldogs with a.359 average.
Admission to both midweek games is free of charge. Chris Edwards is on the call for the ACC Network Extra, which is set to broadcast the game via WatchESPN.com and the ESPN app.
Following Wednesday’s game, Duke resumes ACC play against Miami Friday-Sunday, March 16-18 at the DBAP.
