DURHAM, N.C. – Following one of the best seasons in school history, head coach Chris Pollard and the Duke baseball program now welcome the 2019 recruiting class. Highly touted outfielder Sam Siani headlines the talented group set to arrive in Durham this coming fall.

“Sam Siani is without question one of the best players in all of the country in the 2019 class,” said Pollard. “He has a tremendous hit tool from the left side and he’s a very good runner. A true center fielder, Sam goes and gets the ball from gap to gap. Coming from a great baseball family, he has a great motor and plays the game very hard.”

A native of Glendale, Pa., Siani is a four-year letterwinner at William Penn Charter, earning all-league honors. As a junior, Siani hit .329 with 23 hits, four doubles, two home runs and 16 RBI while going a perfect 14-for-14 on the base paths. The 6-0 lefty has hit .300 better in each of his first three high school campaigns.

A Perfect Game 2018 Underclass 1st Team, 2017 Underclass High Honorable Mention and 2016 Underclass Honorable Mention selection, Siani is rated as the No. 47 overall and No. 11 outfielder in the 2019 recruiting class. Perfect Game also lists Siani as the No. 2 overall prospect and top outfielder in the state of Pennsylvania.

The son of Ralph and Kristen Siani, Siani is the middle of three brothers. His older brother Mike Siani was selected by the Cincinnati Reds in the fourth round of the 2018 Major League Baseball Draft.

Siani is part of Duke’s 12-member 2019 recruiting class along with LHP Michael Foltz (Myrtle Beach, S.C.), INF/OF Britt Fuller (Charlotte, N.C.), RHP Marcus Johnson (Fontana, Calif.), INF/RHP Thomas Keehn (Highland, Md.), LHP Clark Klitenic (Bethesda, Md.), C Chad Knight (Westport, Conn.), INF Grant Norris (Somerset, Pa.), INF Graham Pauley (Milton, Ga.), RHP Billy Seidl (Wellesley, Mass.), RHP Colten Smith (Colmar, Pa.) and RHP Henry Williams (Darien, Conn.). is set to release details on all 12 of the newest Blue Devils in the coming weeks.
