DURHAM, N.C. – Following a trip to the NCAA Super Regionals, head coach Chris Pollard and the Duke baseball program are pleased to introduce the Blue Devils’ 2019 recruiting class. Hailing from Myrtle Beach, S.C., left-hander Michael Foltz arrives on campus next year to join the Blue Devil roster for the 2020 campaign.
“Michael Foltz is a bulldog of a left-handed pitcher,” said Pollard. “He’s got a big arm to be a little guy. He reminds me of Kyle Salley in that regard. Good breaking ball. He’s a really good competitor. Because of his time with Canes National Team, he’s pitched on a lot of big stages.”
A three-year letterwinner at Carolina Forest High School, Foltz has twice been invited to the Diamond Prospects Palmetto State Game. A Perfect Game 2018 Underclass High Honorable Mention All-America selection, Foltz has also played on one of the premier national teams in the country in the Evoshield Canes.
In addition, Foltz is rated among Perfect Game’s top 500 overall prospects and the No. 116 LHP in the 2019 recruiting class. The organization also lists Foltz as the No. 12 overall prospect and No. 7 LHP in the state of South Carolina.
Foltz is part of Duke’s 12-member 2019 recruiting class along with INF/OF Britt Fuller (Charlotte, N.C.), RHP Marcus Johnson (Fontana, Calif.), INF/RHP Thomas Keehn (Highland, Md.), LHP Clark Klitenic (Bethesda, Md.), C Chad Knight (Westport, Conn.), INF Grant Norris (Somerset, Pa.), INF Graham Pauley (Milton, Ga.), RHP Billy Seidl (Wellesley, Mass.), OF Sam Siani (Glendale, Pa.), RHP Colten Smith (Colmar, Pa.) and RHP Henry Williams (Darien, Conn.). GoDuke.com is set to release details on all 12 of the newest Blue Devils in the coming weeks.
