DURHAM, N.C. – Junior Graeme Stinson received his second preseason honor, as the left-hander was named to the 2019 Perfect Game/Rawlings Preseason All-America third team Tuesday morning.
Stinson is one of nine ACC Players tabbed to the Perfect Game first, second or third teams, joining NC State’s Will Wilson and Patrick Bailey, Louisville’s Logan Wyatt and Nick Bennett, Georgia Tech’s Tristin English, Florida State’s Drew Parrish, North Carolina’s Michael Busch and Clemson’s Logan Davidson.
Stinson made 23 appearances and four starts as a sophomore in 2018, posting a 5-1 record and a 1.89 ERA. The 6-5 southpaw struck out 98 batters in 62.0 innings of work, averaging a team-best 14.3 strikeouts per nine innings. In his fourth start of the season, Stinson picked up the win over Texas Tech in the Lubbock Super Regional, tossing 6.0 scoreless innings, while allowing just five hits and striking out six.
Over the summer, Stinson was named to the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team, striking out 10 batters in six innings while scattering two hits and five walks across three appearances.
Entering the spring, Stinson is the fourth-rated player on Baseball America’s list Top 50 college prospects for the 2019 draft. The Norcross, Ga., native was also a second team preseason All-America selection by Collegiate Baseball, which was announced in December.
Stinson and the Blue Devils open the 2019 campaign Feb. 15-17 with a three-game series at home against Lehigh.
