DURHAM, N.C. – After making its eighth appearance in the NCAA Tournament in school history, the Duke baseball program concludes the 2019 campaign as a consensus top-20 team for the second consecutive season. The Blue Devils received rankings as high as 16th in the national polls, while being recognized as a top-20 team amongst five different publications.
Ranked in the preseason for the second time in program history, Duke lived up to the early season hype with a magical postseason run in the NCAA Tournament, culminating in the program’s second straight and second-ever NCAA Super Regional. The NCAA Tournament appearance marked the second consecutive appearance for the Blue Devils and the third appearance across the last four seasons.
Duke entered the 2019 campaign ranked No. 20 on Collegiate Baseball’s preseason list, No. 22 in Baseball America’s Preseason Top 25, No. 25 in the NCBWA poll and No. 31 on Perfect Game’s list.
After an impressive run in the postseason, including capturing the program’s second consecutive NCAA Regional Championship, the Blue Devils wrapped up the campaign as a consensus top-20 team for the second straight year: Baseball America (No. 18), Collegiate Baseball (No. 16), D1Baseball (No. 16), NCBWA (No. 17) and Perfect Game (No. 18).
