No. 3: Softball Holds Stadium Groundbreaking
Vice President and Director of Athletics Dr. Kevin White, Senior Deputy Director of Athletics Dr. Chris Kennedy and head coach Marissa Young headlined a groundbreaking ceremony for Duke’s new softball stadium on the school’s East Campus. The stadium will sit adjacent to Williams Field at Jack Katz Stadium, which serves as the home of Duke’s field hockey program. Young, who earned All-America honors three times at the University of Michigan and was named the 2002 Big Ten Pitcher of the Year and 2003 Big Ten Player of the Year, was hired as the program’s first head coach on July 29, 2015. Assistant coaches Kate Kantor and Amanda Chidester joined the staff earlier this year. The Blue Devils are set to open varsity play during the 2017-18 academic year.
