DURHAM, N.C. – Head coach Marissa Young announced Tuesday the addition of outfielder Haley Wymbs to the Duke softball program. A transfer from Seattle University, Wymbs enrolled at Duke at the start of the spring semester.
An outfielder from San Jose, Calif., Wymbs played in 20 games with the Redhawks in 2016, starting 10. She posted a .286 batting average and .400 on base percentage while slugging .333 in 25 plate appearances at Seattle.
An alumna of Archbishop Mitty High School in San Jose, Wymbs led the Monarchs to four WCAL Championships and three CCS Championships during her high school career. She earned WCAL First Team All-League, CCS Honorable Mention, CCS First Team and Mercury News First Team accolades, batting no lower than .360 in any of her four high school seasons.
This past August, the Duke softball program welcomed its first student-athletes to campus. Wymbs joins current Blue Devils Allison Florian, Hannah Pridemore, Emilie Cieslak, Jazmine Moreno, Kortney Dry and Audreya Metz as the team prepares to begin competition at the Division I level during the spring of 2018. The program also signed seven student-athletes to national letters of intent during the fall signing period.
