DURHAM, N.C. - Thanks to the program's first grand slam courtesy of Amelia Wiercioch, the Duke Blue Devils (11-6) took down the Lehigh Mountain Hawks (2-6) to the tune of 5-3 to close out day two of the Duke Inaugural Tournament on Saturday.

The Blue Devils used eight hits and five runs batted in to power past the Mountain Hawks, riding Wiercioch's fourth-inning grand slam to erase a two-run Lehigh lead and put the home side ahead for good.

Lehigh struck first on a fielding error, going up 1-0 and holding the lead until a Jameson Kavel RBI double in third tied things up. Reilly Metzger led things off with a walk and was then moved to second on a sac bunt from Haley Wymbs, setting up Kavel’s double to bring her home.

The visitors jumped back in front a half inning later, using a double and single to drive in a pair of runs and go up 3-1 before the Blue Devils jumped ahead in the fourth. Raine Wilson got things going with a one-out single through the left side, before Brianna Butler followed immediately with a single to right to put two on the bases. A fielder’s choice from Katherine Huey loaded the bases and brought Wiercioch to the plate, who unloaded on an 0-1 pitch and sent it over the wall and onto the grass in center for the grand slam.

The Mountain Hawks were able to get one more runner on with a defensive error in the sixth, but nothing more. Duke used the combo of Huey and Wiercioch in the circle to shut down the visitors and seal the 5-3 victory.

Huey drew the start and threw 4.0 innings of work while stricking out two to pick up her seventh win of the season. Wiercioch came in for 3.0 innings of relief to pick up her second save of the season.

The Blue Devils will close out the weekend against Kent State, with first pitch set for 12:30 p.m. ET. The contest will be live streamed on ACC Network Extra, which fans can access through WatchESPN.com and the ESPN app.
