FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. -- Battered by the wind on a challenging course setup, none of the 30 teams finished in red figures on Friday and Duke sits tied for 27th after the first 18 holes of the 2019 NCAA Men’s Golf Championship at the Blessings Golf Club in Fayetteville, Ark.

Junior Chandler Eaton led the way for Duke in the opening round, carding a four-over 76 on Friday, which included birdies on each of his first two holes – the par-5 10th and par-4 11th. The Alpharetta, Ga., native is tied for 53rd on the individual leaderboard.

The teams will play their second round on Saturday, with the Blue Devils remaining paired with Georgia Tech and Southern California and set to tee off at 7:45 a.m. CT (8:45 a.m.  ET) in the early wave. Following Sunday’s third round, the field is cut to the low 15 teams for Monday’s final round of stroke play.

Top-seeded Oklahoma State leads the tournament at two-over par, followed by Stanford (+3), Auburn (+4) and California (+4) through 18 holes. The Blue Devils are just eight strokes back of the top 15 on the par-72, 7,550-yard course that is hosting the NCAA Championship for the first time.

Sophomore Adrien Pendaries carded birdies on two of his first five holes on Friday and finished his round at six-over 78 and is tied for 87th. Sophomore Evan Katz posted an opening-round 79, but will take momentum into Saturday after birdies on each of his final two holes.

Senior Alex Smalley settled his round after a rocky opening nine holes to shoot one-over on his final nine holes and signed for an eight-over par 80. Junior Steven DiLisio shot an 81.
