Amanda Chidester will participate in the USA Softball Women’s National Team Selection Camp on January 1-5, 2017, at the Eddie C. Moore Softball Complex in Clearwater, Fla.DURHAM, N.C. – Duke assistant softball coach
Chidester has been a member of the USA Softball Women’s National since 2012. This past July, she helped the United States capture the gold medal at the WBSC Women’s World Championship in Surrey, British Columbia, Canada, by batting .591 with a team-high seven home runs along with 18 RBI and 11 runs scored.
A four-year starter at the University of Michigan, Chidester was a two-time Big Ten Player of the Year pick in 2011 and 2012 and a two-time NFCA All-America honoree. On the Wolverines’ career charts, Chidester completed her career ranked second in RBI (200), second in grand slams (5), fourth in slugging percentage (.596), fifth in home runs (40), ninth in hits (248) and 10th in runs scored (157).
Selections for the 2017 USA Softball WNT roster will compete at a Pan American Games/World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) World Championship Qualifier in Florida, where the U.S. will look to qualify for the 2018 WBSC Women’s World Championship to be held in Chiba, Japan and the 2019 Pan American Games to be held in Lima, Peru. The complete 2017 schedule for the WNT, including exhibition games, will be announced at a later date.
