DURHAM, N.C. – For the first time in program history, a Blue Devil has been drafted to the professional ranks, as Reilly Metzger was taken in the 2019 American Softball Association Draft by the E1 Pro Ballers.
Metzger, who wrapped up her Blue Devil softball career this spring, is the first player in program history to be drafted after being selected with the 33rd overall pick by the E1 Pro Ballers.
The Boerne, Texas, native capped her two-year career with the Blue Devils by playing in 65 contests, drawing 43 starts. She accumulated 32 hits, 19 runs, 11 RBI, six doubles and a triple in her two campaigns and was an instrumental part of Duke’s road weekend win at Virginia Tech in 2018, helping the Blue Devils capture back-to-back ACC road series wins for the first time in program history.
Metzger and the E1 Pro Ballers open the 2019 season against The Field on Friday, June 14 at 6 p.m. ET at the Pat Hicks Softball Field in Satsuma, Ala.
