DURHAM, N.C.—Former Duke men’s lacrosse standout Will Haus has been named to the travel roster for the U.S. Men’s National Team for the upcoming Federation of International Lacrosse Men’s World Championship in Netanya, Israel. Haus is one of four Blue Devils who will represent Team USA, joining Ned Crotty, Matt Danowski and Jordan Wolf.
Haus replaces Steve DeNapoli on the U.S. team’s 23-man roster. DeNapoli tore his ACL during a Major League Lacrosse game on June 9.
A stellar defensive midfielder for the Blue Devils, Haus was instrumental in leading Duke to the 2013 and 2014 NCAA titles. He garnered All-America first team honors as well as All-ACC recognition in 2015 after garnering honorable mention accolades in 2013 and 2014.
Haus, arguably Duke’s best all-around player, was a regular in the lineup throughout his entire career. He played in 79 career games and registered 24 goals and 12 assists for 36 points, including a critical goal in the 2014 NCAA Championship victory over Notre Dame. Overall, he finished with 186 ground balls and 33 caused turnovers in his defensive effort.
The No. 3 overall selection in the 2015 MLL draft, Haus is in his fourth year with the Charlotte Hounds of Major League Lacrosse and has a career-high eight points (5g, 3a) already this season from his defensive midfield position to go along with 24 groundballs.
Haus’ brother, John, will also be making the trip to Israel as a midfielder on the U.S. team.
The U.S., led by Duke head coach John Danowski, opens play at the world championship against the Iroquois Nationals on Thursday, July 12. The game will be aired in the United States on ESPN2 beginning at 1:30 p.m. (Eastern).
