DURHAM, N.C. – The Duke fencing team received its fourth signee for the 2018-19 recruiting class as Julia Noguchi signed her National Letter of Intent (NLI) to compete for the Blue Devils.

Noguchi, a native of San Jose, Calif., comes to Duke from Valley Christian Schools as a foilist who represents Japan on the fencing circuit.

Noguchi recently captured gold at the 2017 Asia Cadet Team Championships and bronze at the 2017 Japan Cadet Junior Olympics.

Over the last two years, Noguchi showcased her talents on the international stage. In addition to the aforementioned Asia and Japan competitions, Noguchi also took the bronze medal at the 2017 Marathon Fleuret.

The California native also garnered eighth at the 2017 Junior Summer Nationals, eighth at the 2017 Asia Cadet Championships and silver as a member of the Cabries Cadet Team in 2016.
