EASTON Pa. – The Duke fencing program traveled to Eason, Pa., to compete at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic/South Regional on Saturday as 10 Blue Devils notched top-10 finishes. Leading the way was senior Pascual Di Tella and freshman Brycen Rushing with second-place finishes in saber and foil, respectively.
In the final round of pool play, Di Tella logged a 9-2 record while Rushing went 8-3 in the last round of their respective weapons. Foil teammate Eoin Gronningsater placed fifth with a 7-4 ledger while junior Rhiannon Harvey headlined the women’s performances with a fifth-place showing in foil with a 6-5 record.
Other Blue Devils that finished in the top 10 were junior Bryn Hammarberg (6th, epee), freshman Julia Gianneschi (8th, foil), sophomore Lindsay Sapienza (8th, saber), sophomore Agoston Walter (9th, saber), junior Claudia Wrampelmeier (9th, epee) and sophomore Zuzu Tang (10th, foil).
The Blue Devils will finish the 2018 season at the NCAA Fencing Championships March 22-25 in State College, Pa. Qualifiers for the national meet will be announced next week.
