DURHAM, N.C. – Following a successful weekend at the Northwestern Duals, Duke fencing sophomore Ping Ping Kitsiriboon was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s Fencer of the Week, as announced by the league office Tuesday.
Kitsiriboon, a product of Bangkok, Thailand, helped the 10th-ranked Blue Devil men to a 9-1 overall ledger, defeating seventh-ranked Ohio State (19-8), Wayne State (24-3), Air Force (21-6), Cal Tech (23-4), Cleveland State (25-2), Detroit Mercy (24-3), Stanford (17-10) and UCSD (15-12) and fell to fifth-ranked Princeton by one touch (14-13).
Additionally, it was an ACC Championship rematch between the Blue Devils and top-ranked Notre Dame that highlighted the action. Having defeated the Irish in the conference championship to take the team’s first ACC title, the Blue Devils once again took down Notre Dame (14-13).
Kitsiriboon led the men’s saber contingent to an 8-2 team record with a 23-4 individual ledger.
The Blue Devils will return to Durham to host their annual Duke Meet Feb. 9-10 in Card Gymnasium.
